About the Role:
Every Special Child is seeking compassionate, skilled, and dependable School Nurses in Sonoma County, California, for potential school-based opportunities during the 2026–2027 school year. This role is an excellent opportunity for nursing professionals who are passionate about student wellness, preventive healthcare, and creating safe educational environments.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily health assessments, first aid, and emergency care to students
- Develop and manage individualized health plans (IHPs) for students with special needs
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policy
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and parents to support student health and wellness
- Monitor and document student health records, immunizations, and medical histories
- Identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect, or mental health concerns
- Conduct health screenings including vision, hearing, and developmental assessments
Requirements:
- Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- School Nurse Services Credential or willingness to obtain preferred
- Experience working with children with special needs or disabilities strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of pediatric health, IEP processes, and special education environments
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
